Cetirizine, a human metabolite of hydroxyzine, is a potent and selective antagonist of peripheral H1-receptors. In vitro receptor binding studies have shown no measurable affinity for receptors other than H1-receptors.
Ambroxol is the active metabolite of bromhexine. Ambroxol causes an increase in secretion in the respiratory tract. It promotes surfactant production and stimulates ciliary activity. These effects assist the flow of mucus and its removal (mucociliary clearance). An improvement in mucociliary clearance was demonstrated in clinical pharmacological studies. The increase in secretion and mucociliary clearance facilitate expectoration and reduce the cough.

Cetirizine Hydrochloride BP 2.5 mg
Excipients: Sorbitol solution 70% BP, Methyl Hydroxybenzoate BP, Propyl Hydroxybenzoate BP, Thiourea IHS, Propylene glycol BP, Liquid glucose BP, Glycerin BP, Acesulfame Potassium BP, Citric acid BP, Sodium Saccharine BP, Sodium Citrate BP, Ess. Raspberry IHS, Ess. Mint IHS, Disodium Hydrogen Phosphate BP, Purified water BP.
BELISOL 30 mg: Each 5 ml contains:
Ambroxol Hydrochloride BP 30 mg
Cetirizine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg
Excipients: Sorbitol solution 70% BP, Methyl Hydroxybenzoate BP, Propyl Hydroxybenzoate BP, Thiourea IHS, Propylene glycol BP, Liquid glucose BP, Glycerin BP, Acesulfame Potassium BP, Citric acid BP, Sodium Saccharine BP, Sodium Citrate BP, Colour Carmoisine (supra) IHS, Ess. Raspberry IHS, Ess. Mint IHS, Purified water BP.
For oral use only.
For adults it is recommended 10 ml of Belisol (ambroxol 30 mg /5 ml) 2-3 times a day.
In the treatment for longer than 7-14 days the dose is reduced twice.
For children it is recommended to take Belisol (ambroxol 15 mg /5 ml) in following doses:
Children up to 2 years: 2.5 ml syrup 2 times daily.
Children 2 – 5 years: 2.5 ml syrup three times daily.
Children over 5 years: 5 ml syrup two-three times daily.
