Prescription

Ferzapine is considered an antipsychotic (antipsychotic) with a wide pharmacological spectrum of effects on a number of receptor systems. The drug reduces the productive (delirium, hallucinations) and negative symptoms (hostility, suspicion, emotional and social autism) of psychoses. Rarely causes extrapyramidal disorders.

Composition

One film-coated tablet contains:

active substance: olanzapine – 10 mg;

excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc, magnesium stearate, white opadria II;

Indications for use

should be used with the following indications:
-schizophrenia: treatment of exacerbations, supportive and prolonged anti-relapse therapy of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders with pronounced productive (including delirium, hallucinations, automatism) and / or negative (including emotional flatness, decreased social activity, impaired speech) symptoms, as well as concomitant affective disorders;
-bipolar affective disorder: Ferzapine in the form of monotherapy or in combination with lithium or valproate is indicated for the treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes in bipolar affective disorder with / without psychotic manifestations and with / without rapid phase change. Ferzapine is indicated to prevent relapse in patients with bipolar disorder in whom olanzapine was effective in treating the manic phase.
-in combination with fluoxetine, Ferzapine is indicated for the treatment of depressive conditions associated with bipolar disorder.

Mode of administration

-With schizophrenia and similar psychotic disorders, the recommended initial dose of the drug is 10 mg 1 time per day. It can be taken regardless of the meal. Therapeutic doses range from 5-20 mg per day. The daily dose must be selected individually depending on the clinical condition of the patient. Increasing the dose over the standard component of 10 mg per day is recommended only after an appropriate clinical examination of the patient.

-In acute mania with bipolar disorder, the recommended initial dose of the drug is 15 mg 1 time per day. Therapeutic doses of Ferzapine range from 5-20 mg per day. The daily dose must be selected individually depending on the clinical condition of the patient. Increasing the dose over the standard component of 15 mg per day is recommended only after an appropriate clinical examination of the patient. The dose should be increased gradually, at intervals of at least 24 hours.

-Elderly patients, as well as severe renal failure or moderate liver failure, the drug is prescribed in an initial dose of 5 mg per day. Reducing the initial dose is recommended for patients with a combination of factors (female patients, senile age, non-smokers), in which it is possible to slow down the metabolism of the drug.
